The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
