The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
