He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
