He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
