He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
