He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
