He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Not one - he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
