The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
