Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
