The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
