The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
