The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
