The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
