The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
