The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
