The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
