The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 on a Great Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
