The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
