The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
