The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
