The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
