The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
