The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
