The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
