The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
