The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
