The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
