The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
