The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
