The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
