The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
