The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
