The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
