The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
