The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
