The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The piercing star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is no merriment. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
