Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
