Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
