Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
