Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
