Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
