Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
