Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
