Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 well arranged goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
