The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
