Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 in which you are now living 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
