Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 in which you are now living 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son! 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
