The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
