The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
