The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
