He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
